Rhianon's road to recovery

Rhianon SmythRhianon Smyth is on the road to recovery and to getting back into the rally car after having the rod and screws removed from the shaft of her left femur on Monday, January 17.

Rhianon, who broke her legs in nine places in August 2009 in a crash in the Australian Rally Championship, now only has a rod in her right tibia and a broken right fibula, which will be all mended at the end of the 2011 rally season.

Despite this latest surgery being very painful and not quiet as easy as the right femur, Rhianon is happy to now have the femur rods removed and can’t wait to be fit and ready for her first World Rally Championship round alongside Brendan in Portugal in March.
